How it Works

Feasibility studies explore what happens in the critical time directly after a school system purchases a product and they’ve completed product onboarding. The optional addition of pre- and/or post-testing (Feasibility+) to our Feasibility studies includes a supplemental pre/post assessment to explore if there is early indication of efficacy.

We will work with you to understand your ideal user and use-case scenario and recruit matching schools from our network. We then work with you and the school systems to implement your typical onboarding procedures. For Feasibility+ studies, we conduct any pre-testing.

During the research period, users will implement your tool into their daily practice. Our research team will collect data on their experiences - ways in which they followed the onboarding protocol and implementation guidelines and ways in which they strayed from it and found more effective ways of using the product - through focus groups, individual interviews, and user journals.

For Feasibility+ studies, we also conduct a post-assessment to capture preliminary indications of efficacy. Examples of pre- and post-testing include student self-reported motivation or teacher perceptions of student engagement. Pre- and post-testing for Feasibility+ studies are exclusive of norm-referenced or standardized assessments such as i-Ready or NWEA. Initial measures of potential impact will be based on a single case research design in which the participants being measured will act as their own control.

We then synthesize this data and present you with a final report which will include recommendations for feasible product implementations.

Guiding Research Questions

  • How well can end users successfully use the product in the classroom or other authentic learning environment?

  • What barriers do they encounter?

  • What is needed to make classroom use easier and/or more valuable for teachers?

  • What is the value the tool brings to teachers and students in the classroom?

  • How do results differ in pre- and post- study assessments? What impact might this tool have on outcomes? (Feasibility+)

Details

  • Duration - 8-12 Weeks

  • Sample Size - ≤10 classrooms

Benefits

  • Understand common barriers to implementation

  • Identify feasible and sustainable ways of using the product

  • Increase user retention

  • Get preliminary evidence of effectiveness (Feasibility+)

Who it’s for

  • Companies that have a product which is already in use in some schools and want to understand how well end users can use the product in the classroom or other authentic learning environments.

  • Companies who want to understand and eliminate barriers that inhibit complete and sustained use of their product.

  • Companies that want to identify early indication of efficacy (Feasibility+)

Prerequisites

  • Fully-operational product

  • Evidence of interoperability

  • Demonstrated evidence of having conducted some usability testing

  • Have an onboarding protocol and guidelines for teacher implementation

  • Logic Model
