RESOURCES & LIBRARY BARRIERS
Most teachers reported that the resources that would come up as Recommended Resources were not relevant to what they taught and/or did not align with the grade level they taught.
“Resources were limited, and I was not able to find some that applied to my unit. Many were not relevant to my classes.”
“When you click ‘find resources’ and choose your grade level and what you want, it shows you either a bunch of content that is unrelated or a bunch of content that is for different grade levels.”
“The resources that I was finding did not relate to my standards at all.”
Many resources were perceived as being British and were more challenging to sort through in terms of what was relevant. For example, a teacher was looking for a lesson on football, located one, then discovered it was actually soccer in the United States.
“The resources are very European - British. That makes it hard to find the resources. It’s not always easy to find American resources in Pango.”
The labeling of the grade levels for some resources did not align with the grade level the teachers were designing their lessons to teach.
“The buttons were mislabeled. If I searched for something at a 4th grade level, I would see resources that included a range of grades. Specifically, it would be labeled as K-5, so some resources were too simple and some were too advanced.”
